Buaisou – indigo art
Established in Kamiita-cho, Tokushima Prefecture in 2015.
From the cultivation of raw indigo, to fermenting indigo leaves according to an ancient technique called Sukumo, to dyeing, drawing, and producing garments, the brave new growers on the Buaisou team follow all processes from planting onwards.
All processes, traditionally divided into separate specializations, are carried out within Buaisou
Traditional indigo dyeing is characterized by infinite shades of blue, obtained by successive immersions in a bath of indigo leaves, lye, bran and lime.
